The marking is mandatory to avoid not being able to distinguish threated from untreated wood.
The content of the official mark to be used by the Belgian companies is set up by a Royal Decree; other lay-out are possible (refer to the ISPM 15 standard):
Mandatory marking ISPM_15: ear of corn + IPPC.
The ISO-code of the country "BE" followed by a hyphen.
The code of van de treatment-supplier existing of 5 or 6 digits (FAVV number Paletco - 99145).
The code of treatment = "HT"

FAFSC Certification Program
The certification program regarding the application and use of the IPPC mark covers wood packaging material such as softwood and hardwood:
packing cases and boxes
The folowing materials are in principle exempted from the provisions of the standard:
Plywood, Particle board, OSM, MDF, thin material (6 mm or less in thickness)
Marking of treated material:
This marking must be stamped on each article, preferably twice on opposite sides. Or on at least one of the two sides where it is not hidden behind packing.The dimensions of the stamp must be of a nature that is clearly legible.
